Happy New Year

Smurf - Born Sept 2016

A New Year has just arrived and as in previous years, we all hope it will be a year better than the last. That is all the more important to us all this year, as we have loved and lost special relatives and friends, as indeed we at WGW have in Carolyn Mynott, Chris Ross, Ros Davies and Valerie Vernon and other much loved and valued supporters. The hounds we lose, like our darling Sponsor Kennel hound, Gibson, who sadly developed  osteosarcoma at less than 4 years old, break your heart and are never forgotten – but there will always be another hound who needs you still.

Out of the maelstrom that has been Covid-19, we are delighted to say the good news is we have over the last 12 months successfully re-homed 120 hounds into loving forever homes. From ultra nervous Annie to super excited, reactive Max, we never give up hope that the right person will come along for each and every hound. But without your kindness and support, we could not care for the number of homeless hounds who come into the kennels at Hersham. A heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you for everything that you do to help us help the hounds.

Whether it is taking a hound home, fostering, sponsoring or socialising or walking a hound, arranging group walks in aid of our homeless hounds, running ‘The Caff’at weekends at the kennels, making handmade face-masks or snoods in aid of the hounds, setting up a Push me-Pull me Challenge, arranging Meet & Greets where possible, arranging for Christmas chickens for the hounds, organising a blessing of the hounds by the local vicar,  buying raffle tickets, donating prizes, cake-baking, arranging sonic teeth cleaning sessions for the homeless hounds, tidying the kennels bedding room, undertaking repair and maintenance jobs & painting at the kennels, washing kennel towels or hound coats, running an annual cinema night and promoting us in the community, undertaking home checks or initiating fundraising projects for the charity, running the website, supporting & running our Bonus Ball weekly draw, taking photographs of the homeless hounds for homing promotion or for Christmas cards & Calendars, and making donations, ordering from.our local pet-food suppliers or from our Amazon Wishlist – a huge and heartfelt thank you to you all.

We couldn’t do what we do without you. On behalf of our dedicated staff and hounds, we wish you a happy and healthy New Year, 2022.

Much love
