On the evening of 13th August our big beautiful boy Tup passed away in my arms at home.

I met Tup in August 2022 when he first arrived at WGW following a racing injury, and he very quickly became my regular hound. Following a 2nd operation on his damaged leg Tup came home with me on veterinary advice, thankfully my pack of Ridley, Rodney & Esme accepted him without quibble, as did my Wife and children. This stay became the first of many and he spent a week with us on foster over Christmas before having to go back to kennels due to work commitments.

In early 2023 Clare & I decided we had room in our home and hearts for this big bouncy boy, and we adopted him in March. Work began to get his injured leg working as well as possible, and the wonderful supporters of WGW ran a fundraiser to help with the costs of us taking Tup to weekly physio and hydrotherapy sessions which made a huge difference to his quality of life.

Sadly in late 2024 we found a lump on the injured leg which turned out to be cancer. Following removal in January 2025, we had hoped it wouldn’t return, but by June it had, and by July was having a real impact on his ability to be the bouncy lump he wanted to be. With him being so young and in otherwise excellent health, we decided along with the vet that amputation would be the only option to give him a long and happy life. Whilst the operation went well and we were very positive, 2 days later he suffered a heart attack and passed away in my arms. He was only 4 years old.

Tup was a huge part of our lives and we miss him terribly. We hope that we made his all too short life a good one. Sleep tight Tuppers.
