I find it hard to believe, that it is the fifth year we have been organising and hosting a coffee morning for Hersham Hounds, the years certainly fly by! It seems to have now become an annual event, such kind people attending and lending their continued support.
My ever supportive husband, daughters and amazing friends made sure the whole thing ran like clockwork, once again donning aprons and becoming baristas for the morning.
My slight concern this year was our new hound Skylar, who we had only rehomed from the kennels only two weeks previously – how would she cope? With a friend on hand to take care of her if it all became too much, the coffee morning got underway.
Approximately 50 or so people came and went over the course of the morning, including Dorking Motorcycle Club, all enjoying eating cake washed down by copious amounts of coffee. Book/DVD and plant sales went well, as did the raffle.
I needn’t have worried about Skylar, she was an absolute star! Nothing fazed her, she was meeting and greeting and really enjoying all the attention. Never having met children before, she approached cautiously, but soon realised they were alright – just a bit short! One of her new friends Dags, a rough coated Lurcher arrived to keep her company, they wandered around for a while and then decided, that running off with my husband’s slippers was much more fun, than trying to grab a slice of lemon drizzle off someone’s plate.
The morning went without a hitch, teapots returned to their lids and dogs reunited with their owners! The total raised was £1,003, so pleased we went over the thousand mark!
Thank you everyone for all your help and support. See you all again next year.
Love Anne & Julian Denmark and Skylar xxx
