‘Website Woof’ presents Shauna.
We hope you enjoy reading the volunteers’ descriptions of their walks with the hounds. If you would like to find out more about Shauna please visit our kennels and talk with a member of staff.
The kennels are open daily for hound walking from 11am until 2pm and are located at Burhill Kennels, Turners Lane, Hersham, KT12 4AW.
SHAUNA WENT TO PAINSHILL PARK WITH CHRISTINE C. ON JUNE 24th 2018. THIS IS WHAT CHRISTINE SAID ABOUT SHAUNA:
I had the honour of taking the beautiful Shauna to Painshill today for her first trip outside of the kennels. She is obviously not used to cars yet but once in she spent the journey staring out of the window taking everything in. She was slightly reluctant at first to jump out of the safety of the car, looking around to see who and what was outside but did so after a bit of cajoling.
There were lots of families out today and Shauna was not at all sure of the busy, noisy cafe area. Once away from the bustle she relaxed and for the most part, she walked on a loose lead. We stopped for a rest in a quiet area and after a while, she lay down and relaxed to watch the world go by. We passed ducks, swans and other breeds and she showed no interest in any of them.
She was a little wary of any strangers we passed, spinning around a couple of times and trying to pull. On our way back, I coaxed her into jumping in the car and she settled down for most of the journey only sitting up when we stopped at traffic lights. She definitely gained confidence from lovely kennel hound Max, who walked with us and I think she would benefit from being in a home where another hound was in residence to show her the ropes.
On the whole, I would say she enjoyed her walk, even stopping to have a good old sniff around when it was quiet.
Shauna loves to lean against you and is extremely happy to sit and give you a good cuddle. I do think that Shaunas nervousness is due to being unsure of new things and I am convinced she will grow in confidence with every trip out.
