St Peter’s Church have invited us to an open air Midsummer Blessing on Hersham Green. It is a local tradition that St Peter’s Church holds a Christmas blessing especially dedicated to Wimbledon Greyhound Welfare’s Hersham Hounds, kennel hounds and homed hounds alike; 2020’s event was rescheduled to Easter and now to June.

The Christmas Blessing is a beautiful festive event which has become very popular over the years and we’re sure this rescheduled Midsummer version will only be more special for the wait.As this is an outdoor event, it will go ahead unless the proposed easing of lockdown conditions from 21st June do not go to plan, so please save the date.

The service will start on the Green from 11am but we’ve marked this as starting earlier because kennel hounds will need to be collected. After the blessing all will be welcome to return to the kennels for refreshments. We don’t yet know timings, procedures or what exactly will be possible but we will update this post closer to the date so please mark yourself as “going” especially if you are intending to bring a kennel hound!
