If there was one wish I could have as we move from the end of this year to the beginning of a new one, it would be for all our hounds to find a forever home of their own in 2024. Being there for them every day is truly very special and a real privilege. But seeing them going off to a loving forever home of their own is even more rewarding. We have been absolutely delighted by the recent homings of 2 more difficult to home Sponsor hounds.
Firstly, darling 8-year-old brindle boy, ‘Frank’ (who was older than others, strong on the lead and highly reactive with other breeds in his space) found his special forever home. To put the icing on the cake, our second Sponsor hound homing at the very end of the year was 7-year-old nervous but strong, black, gentle giant, Gavin, who has now also found a home of his own with ‘Dolly’ the greyhound and has spent Christmas with his delighted new owners. He is also helping mend broken hearts at the loss of their previous boy hound.
These are the heart-warming stories that help us as well as you, our supporters, by sharing the positive results of getting these hounds, out and about, making them visible on our media pages and taking them on fosters, so they are better equipped to deal with their new lives beyond the kennel life they have only known.
On the last day of the year, our darling homeless hound, Polly, nervous with those she does not know, found the loving home she deserves with new sister, ‘Willow’ and her doting mum and dad. Polly is also helping mend broken hearts and we wish Polly and her new family all the best for the New Year and the years ahead together.
As the New Year approaches, we would like to say a special thank you to all the supporters who have taken a new hound into their hearts and home this year and those of you who have taken homeless hounds out to the park or on SSWG or other walks, or on fosters or on a daily walk by the kennels, have sponsored a hound or made a donation. We truly appreciate everyone’s help, support and kindness and know just how lucky we are to have such a wonderful, caring community of supporters. We couldn’t look after upto 50 homeless hounds at any one time without you. We hope you all have a wonderful New Year, making precious memories to cherish with new hounds or with our homeless hounds at the kennels or by following our media articles and videos on our website, Facebook, and Instagram pages.
All our love, thanks, and best wishes for a happy 2024, Carol and the team at the kennels and all our adorable homeless hounds xx
