A wonderful WGW weekend

A wonderful WGW weekend

It has been a truly wonderful weekend at WGW – the Hersham Hounds. Great fundraising results, volunteer achievements and homing news, good community spirit and all-round fun!

First off, Rachel Thompson achieved a magnificent £1.388 through her first WGW Table Top Sale she organised and ran, with the help of a lovely team of volunteers and friends.

Closely followed the next day by WGW Kennel Assistant, Beth Clark, who achieved a wonderful time of under 3 hours for her Hampton Court Half Marathon in aid of WGW. Beth has to date raised £500 on her Go Fund Me page with another £155 has been received to date at the kennels, totalling £655, so far.

The Surrey Sighthound Walking Group, set up and run by WGW supporter and ex-WGW hound Rena’s mum, Laura Fewell, had a greyt organised walk in nearby Lightwater Country Park, raising an additional £26.30 for the Hersham Hounds . Thanks to everyone for thinking of us.

Then the magnificent Sharon Lucy Wells surpassed herself in the bacon sarnies stakes, raising just over £150 on Sarurday, helped by Anneka and Stella’s St Patrick’s Day themed homemade cookies stall and bringing the total from running ‘The Caff’ to date to an amazing £2.000. Well done Sharon, ably assisted by helpers, Julia Renfree, Anneka Rubin and Stella Blaise Murphy.

So, great personal achievement and fundraising over the last few days, but homing news has been just as exciting…..

Debbie Ladd – long-time WGW supporter and Meeter & Greeter (& hounds owner!) – took home her beloved 4th hound, newbie ‘Henry’, to join her 3 existing family hounds Jack, Logan and Will.

And then little white & black Ant (now ‘ Harry Patch’) went home with new owner Mark, to join his 9 year old greyhound girl, ‘Poppy’.

We have already in the last week or so, seen the lovely Moana, Gary, Esme, Clare and little Pixie go off to their loving new homes *(see photos). Always a lovely moment.

And then today, to cap it all, the wonderful middle aged greyhound gent, Ronnie, went home with new owner, David.

Hopefully the photographs will tell the story of what a fabulously fun, friendly and productive last few days we have experienced at WGW -the Hersham Hounds. Thanks to all our new hound owners and to our supporters for organising and running these fundraising and PR events and to those who have sponsored them, a massive thank you.
