Squires Meet and Greet

Thanks to everyone's amazing efforts at Squires we have raised a magnificent £510.51 and just as importantly raised our profile locally.

Thank you so much to everyone who took time out on a busy weekend and gave their all for our greyhounds, and to Squires in Hersham for once again making us so welcome.

Tesco Meet and Greet raises over £650

Once again our hounds were prefectly behaved, meeting Tesco's customers on Monday.

We managed to raise £651.50 and I would like to thank the following people and their hounds for giving up their time to come along.

Hersham Village Market "Mini" Meet and Greet

A big thank you to humans and hounds that helped out at the Hersham Village Market "Mini" Meet and Greet - £135 raised.

Christmas Lights "Switch on" raises over £2700!

Janie has tallied up the total for Sunday - including the auction bids - and the total is £2143.07. In addition the shop raised just over £600.

So well done everyone, what an absolutely amazing amount.

Christmas Lights Hound Quiz Results

As judged by our independant adjudicator Ms Janie Griffiths - who's word (I am told) is final. The results:

Joint winners - Dave ALLEN (Regular Hound Walker) & 'Team Raffle Stall' - Gaynor, Emma & Maureen

NB: Please note that 'Team Raffle' has had a handicapp applied to their final score by the independant adjudicator, so that fair play is seen, as it is well known that they have some employment history with the hounds who are the subject of the answers.

Closely followed by Damion & Jayne - no prize, but web site recognition is always a bonus!

A bottle of Sparkling Wine to ease into the Christmas spirit will be available at the kennels for the winner Dave during the coming week, and girlie somethings for Team Raffle.

Have a Merry Christmas

Staines Meet and Greet

"Once again the sun shone (perhaps too much for October), the crowds came out and the dogs lapped up the attention to raise a fantastic £800 for the day.

It was a long day.  We managed to have dogs and people present at 'our pitch' from 8.30 in the morning until 5.30 in the afternoon.  At times we were a little thinner on the ground than we'd have liked and a few more people would have enabled us to 'flood' the area and raise even more cash.  It was, however, a fantastic effort by all concerned and we couldn't have done it without some great support.

Staines

Staines

Stars of the show (in order of appearance) were: Linda Slough with Bridie (at her first meet and greet); John and Julie Higham with Joe, Twiggy and Nicky; Neil Hagon and Leo; Chris with her camera (that's not a dog by the way!); Ian Bennett with Keely and Basil - who, incidentally, only stopped to say hello and stayed for hours; Jon Samuel with Robbie; Eilean with beautiful sanctuary hound, Sam; Eddie and Val with Holly; Sandi Sayers with her trusty pickpocket Harry and sidekick Evie; Ronel and Daniel with Colin and Claudia.  Last but not least Ruth Davies, who started the ball rolling with the first Staines event five years ago, and who, although she no longer has a greyhound, came along with her son, Isaac, to shake a bucket.  Many, many thanks to you all.

As I've said, this was our fifth year in Staines and the collections have always raised between £800 and £1000.  I would urge people to ask their local authorities about holding meet and greets in their areas.  It's probably easier than you think to get a licence, it raises valuable money for the kennels and above all, although tiring, is a fun, rewarding day which will do much to restore your faith in human nature."

Linda's Mug Sale

Once again, Linda's Mug Sale was a huge hit at the Kennels and weeks of knitting and mug-filling (and John's Grey...pe Jelly making) paid off with a marvellous (record breaking) total of £463.  Many, many Thanks to all who attended and were so generous, and also to her helpers, particularly Sandra and Julie.  Special mention must also go to Nikki Cussen who helped Linda wrap the mugs so professionally and even provided a bespoke wrapping service on the day.

If this gets any bigger we'll need a stall at Kempton Market where we think Linda's style of market-place patter and persuasive techniques would go down rather well!

Guildford Street Collection

Just to let everyone know that we had a successful street collection yesterday we collected £880.72 - a huge thank you to all the helpers and the kind shoppers of Guildford.

Wimbledon Greyhound Welfare sponsored race evening

Saturday 24th September saw Wimbledon Greyhound Welfare’s own celebration of Greyhound Awareness Week, which commenced with the Great Greyhound gathering in Nottingham on Saturday 17th September, and ended for WGW. with a sponsored race meeting and fundraising at Wimbledon Stadium

A number of Retired Greyhounds pets paraded before some of the races, and other Greyhound pets circulated around the stadium. Using their usual wiles to enchant punters in to giving donations, or to persuade people in to giving a greyhound in the kennels a home.

The Independence Day celebrations therefore kicked off about twelve hours early, with a welcome boost of £1311.00 to the Welfare funds.

This was made up of £510.00 raised through sponsorship of the races and payments to parade retired hounds, and £801.00 from a combination of the raffle on the night, bucket collection and an additional significant donation from the Norah Mac Racing Club, who were celebrating their first social gathering in the restaurant on that night.

Thanks go to all those who paraded their pets, especially Megan.  And a special thanks to Dawn Hodges, Gaynor Renwick, Chris Ross, Dave Hall & Margaret & Carol, who dog sat, shock buckets, sold raffle tickets, dealt with the more difficult emotional clients and generally gave up their time to support the night.  And of course the Norah Mac Racing Club, for their generous donation.
